A tradition of giving back

Hillwood is a company whose leadership believes that it is important to give back to the community at-large, to help those in need to have a better quality of life . We couldn’t agree more, which is why we gladly adopt a charity each year. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with a number of organizations, including Hearts and Hammers, Heroes for ChildrenThe Family Place and the Dallas Stewpot.

More recently, we were able to partner with HelpingaHero.org, Changing Lives, One Veteran at a Time in our Creekwood community. HelpingaHero.org is focused on providing new homes for soldiers returning from Afghanistan and Iraq who have sustained injuries that require changes in their routines and lifestyles. Zach Briseno lost both legs below the knee in a bombing during his second tour in Afghanistan. Although he wears prosthetics most of the time, he still needs a home that is wheelchair accessible. Thanks to HelpingaHero.org, Zach and his son, Eli, are experiencing the American Dream.

Next, we aligned with
Texas Sentinels Foundation, whose Mission Statement includes, "We're Building New Lives for our Wounded Warriors," to help Army Sergeant Justin Feagin.  Sergeant Feagin was first deployed to Iraq for 15 months, then later to Afghanistan, where he was wounded in 2010 while serving as the head of an Afghan Border Police unit.  Sergeant Feagin and his family now live in a beautiful home in our Liberty community, thanks to the help and generosity of many people joining together to honor another hero.

In 2012, we partnerned with Habitat for Humanity in South Collin County.  This slide show  gives you an idea of what a rewarding experience it was for us.
