Brian Gates
Vice President, Houston Project Manager - Legacy
Joining Hillwood Communities in 2023, Brian brought more than 20 years of experience in planning, consulting and development. Brian leads project teams and serves as a key ambassador to local municipalities, builder clients and industry professionals. He is responsible for overseeing project goals, business plans, and stakeholder relationships, while delivering high-quality planned developments and fostering community growth through strategic planning and innovative solutions.
Previously, Brian served as Senior Project Manager at Newland Communities. He has successfully managed and led diverse projects, including master-planned communities, commercial developments, mixed-use projects, institutional facilities and recreational spaces. His expertise spans all aspects of development, from strategic planning and budgeting to implementation and stakeholder engagement.
Brian is actively involved in the Urban Land Institute, serving on a Houston-district Local Product Council. He also serves as chair of the Quality Planned Development Committee for the West Houston Association, where he champions excellence in community development. A native of Central Louisiana, Brian earned his degree from Louisiana State University. Outside of work, he enjoys watching his two sons play baseball, spending time outdoors, and traveling with his family.
