If you’re new to Dallas, you might notice the great climate—mild and comfortable winters, and hot, sunny summers. And by opting for a Dallas relocation, you’ll be one of many choosing to move to the area. With a population of over 1.3 million, Dallas has grown by 12.2% in the past decade. The area is also packed with exciting sights and landmarks, including Reunion Tower, the Bishop Arts District, Pioneer Plaza, and many more. Neighborhoods and Growing Communities

The Dallas housing market is on an increase—as of April 2021, houses remain on the market for 24 days on average, compared to a previous average of 38 days. Clearly, the location is only becoming more desirable. The median sale price currently sits at around $402,500 and is rising. 

Suburban areas around Dallas are also growing. This is the case for communities north of Dallas, including Celina, Prosper, Argyle, Northlake, Melissa and Little Elm. Not only are these areas located just a short trip from Dallas, but they’re full of professional opportunities, both in and outside of the city.

The DFW area is known for providing easy access to high-quality education for all ages. The Argyle Independent School District, for example, was ranked as the 13th best school district in Texas, out of over 1,000 schools. Some other notable local districts include:

Northwest Independent School District

  • 15:1 student-teacher ratio
  • One of 23 districts in Texas to be named in the Advanced Placement Honor Roll (according to the National College Board)

Prosper Independent School District

  • 16:1 student-teacher ratio
  • Ranked the 14th best school district in Texas

Private options are also available, including Liberty Christian School, which boasts a 9:1 student-teacher ratio, as well as a 100% graduation rate.

Colleges and universities in the DFW area include the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Texas at Dallas, Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, and more.

The Economy, Job Market, and Cost of Living

Anyone would be lucky to be working in Dallas. The Dallas job market has seen greater-than-average growth, with job growth over the next decade predicted to be 45.1%, based on current trends. 

Some major industries in Dallas include financial services, technology, telecom, manufacturing, health care, retail, and construction. Major employers in the DFW area include American Airlines Group, Texas Health Resources, ExxonMobil, Toyota, AT&T, Bank of America, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, and more. 

Compared to other major cities, the cost of living in Dallas is especially appealing. Dallas is around 33% less expensive than New York City, with an average housing cost that is about 50% lower than NYC. 

In recent years, many big companies, such as Hewlett Packard, have decided to move operations to the DFW area. This is due to a variety of factors, including the fact that DFW is the #1 fastest-growing metro area in the United States. Plus, the area is considered to be the top U.S. metro for talent attraction. Even the Dallas suburbs are being affected by this shift, leading to a wide variety of new employment opportunities. Attractions and Things to Do in Dallas

Dallas, TX living is full of fun activities and things to do! Alongside the attractions listed earlier, be sure to check out the Dallas Arts District, Klyde Warren Park, the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, and the Deep Ellum neighborhood. Pro sports fans can enjoy all the major sports as the area is home to the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Stars, and FC Dallas. The area also offers horse racing at Lone Star Park and two annual NASCAR events at Texas Motor Speedway. The area offers plenty of opportunities for water sports at area lakes including Lake Lewisville and Grapevine Lake. Links fans can play golf year-round at numerous golf courses. 

There are literally hundreds of annual festivals, concerts, markets, and other seasonal events in cities large and small throughout the DFW Metroplex. A few notable events include the State Fair of Texas, the Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival in Richardson, Addison’s Kaboom Town for July 4th, and the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Search online for events in any community that comes to mind and you will likely find several.
