John Sherwood
Vice President, DFW Project Manager - Treeline
John joined Hillwood Communities in 2022 as Vice President and Project Manager for design, development and implementation of residential communities. He is actively managing a new community of over 2,700 homesites, including development agreements and city relations, land development strategy, design guidelines and builder lot sales.
Previously, John worked in Southern California with government agencies, consultants, master planners and homebuilders for more than 30 years. He also had stints with a civil engineering firm and a design/landscape architectural firm running entitlements and environmental approvals for The Irvine Company. Later, he joined The Irvine Company as Director of Community Development, where he managed entitlement, design, development, resource management and community relations for projects totaling over 9,000 units. John also served as Vice President of Community Development for The New Home Company, and Vice President of Project Management for Tripointe Homes in the Los Angeles/Orange County Division.
John graduated from the University of California San Diego with a degree in urban studies and planning, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He is still working to replace his passion for surfing now that he resides in Texas. He lives in Dallas with his wife of 30 years, and near his three children who are all pursuing degrees from SMU.
