Brian Carlock
Executive Vice President, Acquisitions
Since joining Hillwood Communities in 2000, Brian Carlock has been instrumental in the acquisition, planning, and development of more than 26,000 acres—representing over 60,000 residential lots across 40-plus master-planned communities in major Texas markets. Several of these communities are now among the most recognized and awarded in the state and the nation.
Over the course of his career, Brian’s responsibilities have evolved from hands-on infrastructure development to senior leadership, strategic direction, and enterprise-wide oversight. He is known for his ability to guide complex, long‑term community developments from concept to execution. His leadership spans opportunity identification and evaluation, structuring and securing initial financing, establishing the master planning and design vision, navigating zoning and entitlements, forming public‑private partnerships, aligning infrastructure with municipal priorities, and cultivating strong relationships with homebuilders, brokers, political leaders, and development partners. His work supports communities with 10‑ to 20‑year horizons, requiring sustained discipline, collaboration, and strategic foresight.
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Brian holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering and served more than seven years on active duty as a U.S. Army officer—experience that continues to shape his leadership approach.
Brian is also deeply engaged in civic and nonprofit service. He serves on several boards and committees, including the Presbyterian Night Shelter, the largest homeless shelter in North Texas, and Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth. He and his wife have been married for 33 years and have three adult children.
